BIO
Pieter Emans graduated in medicine in 2000. In 2007 he received his PhD in the field of cartilage repair. This work was continued by means of the Goran Bauer prize of the Nordic Orthopaedic Foundation (NOF) and via a long-term project (LLP) of ReumaNL. He followed the training as an orthopaedic surgeon in Sittard and Maastricht. After completing his training as a medical specialist, he followed a Lars Peterson fellowship in the field of cartilage repair and joint-sparing orthopaedics in the US (Boston, Chicago, LA, San Diego). Since 2010 Pieter has been a specialist at the MUMC+. In this function he is head of the Center for Translational Mobility Research, where he works closely with the Laboratory for Experimental Orthopaedics. Pieter is the founder of the Joint-Sparing Clinic (www.orthopaedie.mumc.nl/zeggenssparende kliniek) and co-founder of Chondropeptix BV and Avalanche Medical BV.
He has worked in the MUMC +. Since March 2010 His specialization concerns in particular the arthroscopic surgery and prosthetics of the knee and shoulder.
In addition to his clinical work, he is closely involved in both regular education Medicine student from Maastricht Biomedical Engineering students from the TU / e. His scientific interests include osteoarthritis and cartilage repair. He works closely with the laboratory of the Department of Orthopaedics and kinesiology department.
